TINY METAL is out today!
I've played a few hours of the PC version, and I really like what I've experienced so far - but I'm really looking forward to playing on the Switch when I get home and download it tonight.
Early impressions: It's Advance Wars but updated, which is exactly what they promised us. Graphics are updated from pixels to 3D polygons, with hand-drawn characters on screen for dialogue.......and there is lots of dialogue - the game starts out suuuuuuuuuuuper chatty, giving you all of the backstory and through the early tutorial parts, but it's manageable once you pass that point.
Gameplay is exactly what it should be - turn based tactics on a grid where you take into account terrain advantages, capture strategic resource points, and take note of which units are effective against certain types. It's simple, but it works exactly the way you want it to.
Again, only a few hours in, so I don't know what the mid-end game looks like and how difficulty ramps, but the Area 35 team has been nothing but passionate through the whole process and I don't think they're going to let us down.
