After a rough start.....
I finally got a few hours in to GT Sport. Here's my tweets of my early impressions.
It's definitely pretty, and it feels like Gran Turismo, but is that enough anymore? It doesn't really feel like much of a progression beyond GT5/6, so aside from the FIA certification and it's windows shopping eye candy, I'm not sure it has enough to lure people away from the other titles in the segment.
Forza (leaving the Forza 7 loot discussion to the side for now) is better optimized for the controller making it the console racing game of choice at this point. The more sim-like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa (which was released in 2014!) have taken up the mantle of "real driving simulator" and provide more flexibility on PC regarding peripherals and multi monitor setups.
I have been a die hard GT fan since the first game, but infrequent releases with little or no substantial advancements have left the series stagnant, with each iteration feeling only marginally better than the last (and usually only in a graphical sense) - GT Sport doesn't feel like it's breaking out of that mold.
It's still early days, but my initial impressions compared to the other titles available on the market, the grass really is greener elsewhere.
