As a well documented lover of Street Fighter, and equally poor player of Street Fighter, you can imagine my elation at the release of Street Fighter V. I've been watching hours upon hours of videos of skillful contests that I cannot comprehend.
What I can comprehend is the cool fight sticks some of the players use, so I wanted to highlight some of the coolest ways people play their fighting games. Here's some of my favorite internet finds and places for inspiration for your own fightstick.
Here we have one, Jony Fraze - creator of his own arcade cabinets, modder of sticks. Here's a few pictures of his setups.
As you can see, there is no shortage of insanely creative mods - my personal favorite is the Trigun inspired stick, but I'm fond of all the ones in the gallery.
DIY'ers who enjoy 3D printing, laser cutting/etching, and fightsticks would do well to check out Cuddleburrito.
His blog even outlines the steps he takes to create, as well as some 3D print files for those who want to try it out for themselves.
If solid wood craftsmanship is more your thing, then take a look at Foehammer Customer Joysticks.
There seems to be no limit to the creativity and passion invested in the modest arcade joystick - not unlike the games they're used to play on.
So good luck out there on your parry v-trigger critical art combo.
