In our continued highlights of games to come in 2016, here is the fast approaching (PC release for January 27).........
Metroidvania games aren't exactly a rarity this day in age. Everyone remembers how good they are (and they truly are), so everyone keeps buying ones that come out (rightly so). Ori and the Blind Forest, Axiom Verge, Xeodrifter, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse; the list goes on for good 2015 releases alone, but it really is a segment that verges at times on the edge of over saturation.
So as we roll into 2016, right out of the gate we get Slain!
I see Castlevania set in a Rob Zombie flick; tons of gore and metal (the music, though there are weapons that are probably metal too). Animations, enemies, stage art, weapons; they all have an attitude that draws you in. I've followed the team designing the game on Twitter for the last year or so, and from what I've seen in videos and screenshots, I've only been impressed with the level of detail associated with all parts of the game thus far.
So, this one goes pretty high up on the list of intriguing titles. In a world where we can get metroidvania in spades, this one stands out amongst the crowd.
